V.T.K. Nayanar has a wealth of experience in legal matters relating to Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax and GST. He joined the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Excise) in 1981 as a direct recruit officer and held many important assignments in the Government of India at various levels.

He has vast experience in establishing interface with the institutional framework of the State and private agencies. He was also instrumental in the setting up of a transparent tax regime and reviewing its effectiveness.
